Fans of the 80s will get the chance to meet some of the decade’s biggest stars in Edinburgh next month.

Comic Con Scotland: For the Love of 80s has announced a stellar lineup of TV and film personalities who will be instantly recognisable to anyone who grew up in the era of Rubik’s Cubes and shoulder pads.

Leading the way will be the Knight Rider himself, David Hasselhoff, accompanied by his iconic talking Trans-Am KITT.

Other familiar faces from Saturday night TV hits include Lou Ferrigno, better known as the Incredible Hulk, Buck Rogers star Gil Gerard and Street Hawk’s Rex Smith.

Dirk Benedict will reminisce about his role as Face in the A-Team, and the show’s famous black-and-red van will be on display for fans to pose with.

Benedict will also be joined by former Battlestar Galactica cast members including Herbert Jefferson (Boomer) to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the original version of the sci-fi series.

Film stars attending the convention include Henry Thomas, who played Elliot in E.T. and is currently starring in the Netflix adaptation of The Haunting of Hill House, alongside his on-screen family Dee Wallace and Robert McNaughton.

Gremlins star Zach Galligan will be answering fans’ questions with his co-star Gizmo, while Ghostbusters fans will get the chance to meet Winston Zeddemore actor Ernie Hudson and Ray Parker Jr, who performed the film’s hit theme song.

From closer to home, the convention will welcome former Doctor Sylvester McCoy along with Sophie Aldred, who played his companion Ace.

Star of Flash Gordon Sam Jones will be able to answer any questions attendees have about the 1980 film, while for sports fans, WWF Hall of Fame wrestling idol Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart and snooker legends Willie Thorne and Dennis Taylor will all be attending.

The TARDIS, Daleks and Back to the Future’s time-travelling Delorean will provide some further unique photo opportunities.

Organiser Andy Kleek said: “The 1980s was an incredible time and featured some of the best-loved films, TV shows and music. People relish reliving their youth or even discovering the 80s for the first time – such is the array of great characters.

“E.T. overtook Star Wars as the highest grossing movie of all time after its release in 1982 and retains a dear place in hearts of film fans around the globe.

“It is amazing that we will have three of the E.T. family together at For the Love of 80s, as well as the puppet used in Spielberg’s classic.”

Comic Con Scotland: For the Love of 80s takes place at the EICC in Edinburgh on November 10 and 11.
