Woman 'significantly injured' after falling from height on coastal path

Lifeboats from Anstruther and Coastguard helicopter from Prestwick were dispatched after reports of a woman falling.

A woman had to be airlifted to hospital after falling from height on a coastal path in Fife.

The woman was significantly injured following the incident on Fife Coastal Path on Sunday afternoon.

Lifeboats from Anstruther and Coastguard helicopter from Prestwick were sent to the scene after the alarm was raised.

The woman was airlifted to hospital in Glasgow with significant injuries after being stabilised by RNLI volunteers.

A spokesperson from Anstruther Lifeboat said: “Anstruther lifeboat was scrambled by the UK Coastguard this afternoon (Sunday, March 9) to rescue a woman who had fallen from height on the Fife Coastal Path.

“Arriving on scene first, our volunteers stabilised and treated the casualty, who had suffered significant injuries, while a Coastguard helicopter from Prestwick raced to the scene and airlifted the woman to hospital in Glasgow.

“On behalf of the team at Anstruther RNLI, we would like to thank members of the public who offered assistance, and above all else, we would like to wish the woman all the very best in her recovery.”
