Passengers intervene after woman punched in face by man onboard train

The victim left the train at Galashiels, while the man remained on the service until Tweedbank.

An appeal has been launched after a woman was punched in the face by a man on a train from Edinburgh.

The incident happened on board a train travelling from Edinburgh Waverley to Tweedbank between 8.30pm and 9.40pm on Saturday September 9.

Other passengers intervened and the victim left the train at Galashiels, while the man stayed on the train until Tweedbank.

Both the victim and offender boarded the service at Edinburgh Waverley.

The British Transport Police are now appealing for anyone with information to come forward by calling 0800 40 50 40, or by texting 61016 with the reference 2300108475.

Information can also be given anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
