A woman has been left injured after she was attacked and dragged along the ground by a man in East Lothian.

The 52-year-old woman was treated for injuries to her chest, hands and legs following the assault that took place on Olivebank Road, Musselburgh, near the River Esk.

The victim was walking along the road when she was assaulted by the man at around 7.40pm on Saturday in what police believe to be a targeted attack.

Detective Constable Ryan Gilhooly of Dalkeith CID, said: “The victim of this assault has thankfully not sustained any serious injuries as a result of this attack.

“We believe this attack to be targeted and we are appealing for information surrounding the incident.

“I would also urge anyone with dashcam footage that may have captured the assault to contact police.”
