Woman traced at bus station charged after 'shopping centre attack'

A woman has been charged in connection with an assault at shopping centre in Fife.

Emergency services were called to Kirkcaldy’s Mercat Shopping Centre at around 5pm on Tuesday following reports of a woman being attacked.

A 28-year-old woman was traced at the town’s bus station and was arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

She is due to appear at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court on a later date.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 5pm on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, we received a report that a woman was assaulted at a shopping centre in Kirkcaldy. She did not require hospital treatment.

“Officers attended and a 28-year-old woman was traced at the bus station.

“She has been arrested and charged in connection and is expected to appear at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court at a later date.”
