A man has been left seriously injured after being struck by a car in a hit and run in Edinburgh that police are treating as attempted murder.
The 45-year-old was at Westside Plaza in the Wester Hailes area when he was struck by the vehicle on Thursday morning.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident after the car involved failed to stop.
Emergency services were called to the scene at around 9.30am and the victim was taken to the city’s Royal Infirmary.
Medical staff have described his condition as “serious”.
The car involved was later found by officers but the occupants have yet to be traced.
Detective inspector George Calder, from CID at Corstorphine Police Station, said: “The vehicle did not stop after the incident, but has now been recovered by officers, we are still trying to trace the occupants.”
“We appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time, or has dashcam footage of the incident, to come forward.
“Anyone with any information is asked to contact 101.”
