A man has been racially abused while travelling on a bus in Fife in what police are calling a “frightening” attack.

The victim was on the X27 service between Dunfermline and Kirkcaldy when he was targeted by another man who confronted and shouted abuse at him in front of other passengers.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to the incident that took place at around 10.20pm on Thursday, May 12 as they look to trace the man responsible.

They are particularly keen to speak to a woman who was also on the bus at the time and would have witnessed the abuse.

The suspect is described as being white, in his late 30s and around 5ft2.

At the time of the attack he was wearing a green khaki jacket.

Police Constable Kieran McCusker said: “This was a frightening experience for the victim and we are asking for the help of the public to trace the man responsible.

“I would ask anyone who witnessed the incident to get in touch with us as soon as possible.

“We would be particularly interested in speaking with a woman who was also travelling on the X27 bus and witnessed the incident and would ask that she gets in touch.

“Anyone with information relating to who may have been responsible is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.”
