A vehicle has been found abandoned two days after a duo held a woman at knifepoint in a car-jacking in Edinburgh.
The incident occurred at the rear of the Scotmid store on Morvenside Close at around 3.20pm on Tuesday afternoon.
A 22-year-old woman was parking her white Peugeot 208 when a man approached, threatened her with a knife and demanded her keys.
A member of the public came to assist the woman as she got out the car.
The suspect managed to enter the car, and another man who had been standing nearby got into the passenger side. The pair then drove off.
Two days on from the car-jacking, the vehicle was found abandoned some seven miles away on Balfour Street in Leith around 12.30am on Thursday.
Police said enquiries are ongoing to trace the two men.
The suspects are described as white and of gaunt appearance. One was aged 30 to 40 years old with a scruffy blonde beard. He was wearing a black tracksuit and a baseball cap. The second man was wearing a navy tracksuit and a black balaclava.
Detective Inspector Robert Wallace said: “Thankfully no one was injured but we need to trace the men responsible for this attack which left the woman frightened and very upset.
“We are asking anyone who saw the car from when it was driven off from Morvenside Close until it was found in Leith to get in touch.
“Please also make contact if you recognise the men responsible or know where they might be.”
Those with information are urged to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 2051 for Tuesday, May 12, 2026, or to call anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
