Long rush hour queues have formed on the M8 on Thursday morning after a van caught fire.

Traffic Scotland warned drivers of delays approaching the westbound off-slip at Junction 3 at Livingston.

The vehicle fire at around 5.30am has caused disruption on nearby roads with heavy traffic also reported on the M9.

Delays of 25 minutes are likely, Traffic Scotland said.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service sent two appliances to the scene and the fire was extinguished.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 5.35am on Thursday, March 21, 2024, officers received a report of a vehicle on fire on the M8 junction 3 near Livingston.

“The fire was extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue service and is not being treated as wilful.”
