Two people have been left in hospital after a fire ripped through a tenement in Edinburgh.
Emergency crews were called to the four-storey building on Peffer Street just after 6pm on Wednesday, May 25.
Six fire engines were dispatched to contain the “well-developed” blaze, Scottish Fire and Rescue Services (SFRS) said.
Two people were taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary by ambulance. Their condition is currently unknown.
An SFRS spokesperson said: “We were called to a dwelling fire on Peffer Street at 6:03pm on Wednesday, May 24, 2023.
“Six fire appliances were sent to the scene, and firefighters arrived to a well-developed fire within a four-story building.
“Crews extinguished the fire and made the area safe before departing the scene.
“We can also confirm that two casualties were taken to Edinburgh’s Royal Infirmary via ambulance.”
The Scottish Ambulance Service has been approached for comment.
