A pair of baby rabbits was found in an airlock by security staff at Edinburgh Airport.
The newborn bunnies were found with their eyes still closed and weighing just 100g when they were found on July 31.
Edinburgh AirportStaff discovered the youngsters in a security passageway at the airport and quickly contacted Scottish SPCA for help.
Sharing the experience on social media, the airport said one staff member volunteered to take the rabbits to the SSPCA Welfare Centre in Alloa after their shift had finished.
Edinburgh AirportThe animal welfare charity confirmed they were released back into the wild on August 29 after increasing their weight to 350g.
A spokesperson for SSPCA said: “Our wildlife team at our centre in Fishcross told us that the two rabbits in question from Edinburgh Airport arrived at the centre on July 31, and were released back into the wild on August 29, together having increased in weight from just 100g when they arrived to 350g.”
A spokesperson for Edinburgh Airport said: “We’re glad to have played a part in keeping the rabbits safe. Thank you to SSPCA for their hard work in ensuring they were released healthy.
“It’s a reminder that even small acts of care can make a big difference.”
