Two men have been taken to hospital following a ‘serious’ early morning crash which has resulted in a major road being closed for several hours.
At around 12.30am on Monday, August 15, police were called to reports of a two-car crash on the A71 near the Dalmahoy Hotel and Country Club.
A 28-year-old man, who is the driver of one of the vehicles, was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh with serious injuries.
A 19-year-old man, who is the driver of the other vehicle, was also taken to hospital.
The road has been closed to traffic for several hours while officers carry out enquiries and drivers have been urged to use alternative routes.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called around 0.30am on Monday, 15 August, to a report of a two car crash on Calder Road, Dalmahoy, Edinburgh.
“A 28-year-old man, the driver of one of the vehicles, was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh with serious injuries. A 19-year-old man, the other driver, was also taken to hospital.
“The road is closed and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
