Two men dead and driver arrested after car leaves road

Another two men are in hospital with life-threatening injuries after the crash on the A706 in West Lothian.

Two young men have died and a driver has been arrested after a car left the road in a crash in West Lothian.

Police said the “tragic incident” involving a Subaru car happened at around 5am on Saturday on the A706 at Longridge Road, Whitburn.

Two male passengers, aged 23 and 19, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Another two men, aged 52 and 28, are in hospital with life-threatening injuries.

A fifth man, the 25-year-old driver, has been arrested in connection with road traffic offences, with enquires ongoing.

He also sustained a serious injury which required hospital treatment.

Inspector Roger Park, of Lothians road policing unit said: “This was a tragic incident and our thoughts are with the men’s family and friends at this time.

“Investigations into the crash are ongoing and I would appeal to anyone with information which could assist our enquiries to call 101, quoting 0858 of August 29.”
