Two men have appeared in court charged with possessing a firearm after police raided a property in connection with an ongoing gang feud.

Officers acting under warrant searched a property on Crewe Road Gardens in Edinburgh on April 17.

A number of weapons, including a firearm, and mobile phones were seized during the raid which was carried amidst a police investigation into a gang war which has spread across the Central Belt.

Three arrests were made including a 17-year-old woman.

Christopher Livingstone Senior, 61, and Christopher Livingstone Junior, 41, have since appeared at Dundee Sheriff Court on Saturday charged with possessing a firearm without holding a certificate.

Both made no plea and were remanded in custody. They will both make their next appearance in court within the next eight days.

Gang war violence escalates in Scottish cities

Violence escalated throughout the Central Belt after two Edinburgh homes, one on Niddrie Marischal Crescent and another on West Pilton Bank, were targeted by gunmen in March.

A house was set on fire on Hay Drive following the shootings.

In Glasgow, homes on Ashgill Road, Cortmalaw Gardens and Gala Street have been firebombed, as well as homes on Meadow Court in Stepps, Milton Road in Kirkintilloch and Wellington Road in Bishopbriggs.

On April 12, masked men invaded a home on Glasgow’s Egilsay Crescent, resulting in a 72-year-old woman and a 12-year-old boy suffering significant injuries.

Items relevant to the investigation, including weapons, have been seized, along with drugs and cash, after raids were carried out in Edinburgh over the past few weeks.

Detective chief superintendent David Ferry, specialist crime division, said: “I want to reassure the community that extensive enquiries are ongoing into this as part of our investigation into recent incidents in the East and West of the country.

“There will be a continued police presence in the area.

“If you have any information that can assist our investigation, please get in touch.”
