Two teenagers have been charged after a large scale fire ripped through an old nightclub and bar in Fife.

Around 14 engines were called to tackle the flames at the former Maxwell’s bar on Wellesley Road in Methil at around 4.48pm on Sunday.

The blaze was successfully extinguished and no injuries were sustained as a result of the fire.

Officers confirmed that two 13-year-olds have been charged in connection with a fire that spread to create the blaze at the former club.

A spokesperson said: “Two 13-year-old boys have been charged in connection with a wilful fire in Methil.

“The incident happened around 2.30pm on Sunday, May 14 on Wellesley Road.

“A report will be sent to the relevant authorities.

“Officers continue to follow positive lines of enquiry.”
