Truck driver found dead at BP service station

Emergency services were called to Monktonhall services shortly after 12pm on Thursday.

A truck driver has been found dead in his vehicle at a BP garage in East Lothian.

Emergency services were called to Monktonhall service station at around 12.25pm on Thursday, after receiving reports that a 60-year-old man was unresponsive within a truck.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police Scotland said the circumstances are not suspicious but a report would be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

A spokesperson said: “Around 12.25pm on Thursday, January 16, 2025, we were made aware of a 60-year-old man found unresponsive within a vehicle near a premises just off the A1 Musselburgh Bypass.

“Emergency services attended, however the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“There are no suspicious circumstances, and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
