Three female king penguins have joined Edinburgh Zoo’s penguin colony.
Constance, Maude and Alma arrived from Rotterdam Zoo in early January and are the first female king penguins to join Penguins Rock in over a decade.
The trio were introduced to Major General Sir Nils Olav, one of the zoo’s male king penguins and the world’s highest-ranking animal, who has quickly welcomed them into their new home.
RZSSEdinburgh Zoo keepers say the trio’s personalities have started to shine, with Maude in particular a feisty addition who is full of energy.
Visitors can see the new arrivals at Penguins Rock, alongside a colony of over 100 gentoo and Northern rockhopper penguins.
