Tributes have been paid to a firefighter who died following a collision involving a motorcycle and a lorry in East Lothian.
An SFRS crew, alongside Police Scotland, were called to the B1345 between Dirleton and Drem at around 7.30am on Wednesday, July 17, after a crash involving a red Scania tanker and a green Kawasaki ZX 900E1.
The motorcyclist, a 21-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
He has since been named as Glenn Campbell, who was a “well-respected and loved” fireman at North Berwick Community Fire Station.
Area Commander Marc Pincombe, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service’s Local Senior Officer for Midlothian, East Lothian and Scottish Borders, has paid tribute to the 21-year-old.
He said: “We are deeply saddened to confirm the death of our friend and colleague Glenn Campbell who passed away on Wednesday, July 17.
“Glenn was a well-respected and loved firefighter at North Berwick Community Fire Station.
“Our thoughts are with Glenn’s family, friends and colleagues at this very sad time.”
Glenn’s girlfriend Paige paid tribute on social media, writing: “This boy had everything you would want as a friend and a partner.
“He was my breathe of fresh air including his friends and family and appreciate all the work people would be doing for him.
“Never forget he will be with us no matter what, he wanted that for us while he was alive so he will for us in spirit. He loved us and we love him.”
