A three-year-old girl has been left seriously injured after being knocked down by a car in Fife.

Emergency services were alerted to the collision in Main Street, Townhill, shortly after 10am on Monday.

The toddler has been taken to Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy.

The road has been closed for investigation works to take place. Motorists have been advised to avoid the area.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police were called around 10.10am on Monday, August 3, following the report of a car colliding with a three-year-old child on Main Street, Townhill, Dunfermline.

“Emergency services attended and the girl has been taken to the Victoria Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

“The road is currently closed and motorists are advised to avoid the area at this time.”
