Three passengers have been taken to hospital after a double-decker bus collided with a telecommunications mast in Edinburgh, police said.

The crash happened on Calder Road, Sighthill, at about 10.15am on Monday, according to officers.

A total of 12 people were on the Lothian Bus, including the driver, who was uninjured.

Five passengers were checked at the scene by ambulance crews and three people were taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 10.15am on Monday November 3, we were called to a report of a bus crashing into a telecommunications mast on Calder Road, Edinburgh.

“Emergency services attended and five of the 11 passengers were checked at the scene by ambulance crews and three were taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for assessment.

“The driver was not injured. Inquiries are ongoing.”

Lothian Buses has been contacted for comment.
