Scottish Borders Council estate has sustained thousands in damages and had 40 windows smashed in a “deliberate” series of incidents.

Police were called to damage on Sprouston Road in the Newtown St Boswells area at around 9pm on Wednesday.

It comes after multiple other incidents of damage to the estate and adjoining community wing throughout July.

Damage caused is now totalling over £5,000.

Investigations into the incidents are ongoing, and police have urged anyone with information to come forward.

Constable John Murray from the Selkirk Community Policing Team said: “This damage is a deliberate and re-occurring act to the council estate and is amounting to a significant amount of money.

“I would urge anyone in the local community who has noticed anyone acting suspiciously in the area over the past month to speak to police. Additionally, if you have any private CCTV close to the area, please get in touch.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident number 3476 of July 23.

“Alternatively, information can be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
