A teenager has appeared in court accused of murdering an elderly couple on Boxing Day.

Tobyn Salvatore, 19, also known as Jay Fell, appeared at Livingston Sheriff Court on Wednesday following the discovering of two bodies at a home in the West Lothian town.

Denis and Mary Fell, both aged 73, were found dead in the house in the Raeburn Rigg area shortly before midnight on December 26.

A suspect has appeared in court over the incident.STV News

Officers had been called to a report of a sudden death, but at around 11.40pm they discovered the couple dead inside the property.

Salvatore, who lives locally, was brought to court from custody and made no plea regarding the two counts of murder.

He was committed for further examination and remanded in custody and is due to appear again within eight days.

A forensics tent and cordon remains in place at the scene.

Detective chief inspector Kevin Houliston from Police Scotland said the force’s thoughts are with the family and friends of Mr and Mrs Fell following the “tragic incident”.
