Teen due in court after pensioner injured in 'cowardly attack'

A teenager is due to appear in court after a pensioner was seriously assaulted in a “cowardly attack” in West Lothian.

The incident occurred shortly after midnight on Monday November 13 on East Main Street in Uphall.

A 75-year-old man suffered a serious head injury in the incident and was taken to St John’s Hospital in Livingston for treatment.

Police previously described the assault as a “cowardly attack on a vulnerable member of our local community”.

On Sunday, the force confirmed a 19-year-old man has been arrested, cautioned and charged in connection with the assault.

The man is due to appear at Livingston Sheriff Court at a later date.

Officers are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident and would like to offer their thanks to the public for their help and co-operation in this investigation.
