Teen, 14, charged and imitation gun seized after 'school lockdown'

Pupils and staff at Graeme High School were told to remain indoors while police searched a nearby park following reports of a suspicious man.

A 14-year-old boy has been charged and an imitation weapon has been seized after police were notified of a man “acting suspiciously” near a Falkirk school.

Emergency services were called to Callendar Park at around 11am following reports of a person acting suspiciously in the park.

Pupils and staff from nearby Graeme High School were asked to remain inside while officers dealt with the report.

Callendar House was also closed during the incident.

A search was carried out by officers in the area and a schoolboy, aged 14, was later identified and an imitation firearm was seized.

The teen has been charged in connection with the incident and report is due to be sent to the relevant authorities.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 11am on Friday, January 31, 2025, we received a report of a man with a possible weapon in Callendar Park, Falkirk.

“Officers attended and a search of the area was carried out. A 14-year-old local male youth was subsequently identified and an imitation firearm recovered.

“He has been charged in connection and a report will be sent to the relevant authority.”
