Two people have been taken to hospital following a crash involving two cars on a road in Fife.

Officers closed Standing Stane Road between Kirkcaldy and Methil for more than an hour after the incident shortly before 9.30pm on Thursday evening.

Teams from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were also dispatched to clear the debris from the crash.

A 19-year-old man and another, aged 38, were both taken to Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy for treatment on their injuries.

The teenager was later arrested and charged in connection with road traffic offences.

The road reopened at around 10.30pm.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers were called to a report of a two-car crash on Standing Stane Road, Kirkcaldy, around 9.25pm on Thursday.

“The drivers of both vehicles, men aged 19 and 38, were taken by ambulance to the Victoria Hospital.

“The 19-year-old was also charged in connection with road traffic offences.

“The road reopened around 10.30pm.”
