A teenager has been arrested and charged after illegal fireworks were recovered from a house in East Lothian.
Officers acting on intelligence executed a warrant at a property in the Wallyford area on Thursday.
A quantity of fireworks were recovered and enquiries are ongoing.
A 19-year-old man is due to appear in court at a later date in connection with the recovery.
It is a criminal offence to buy, possess or use fireworks without a licence, with offenders facing fines or up to six months in prison.
Chief inspector Ben Leathes said: “It is an offence to buy, possess, or use fireworks without a valid licence.
“Anyone found selling or using fireworks illegally may face fines, seizure of items and potential prosecution.
“The misuse of fireworks presents a significant risk to the public, and can result in serious injury, fires and damage to properties.
“We remain committed to working with partner agencies to ensure everyone’s safety. I would ask anyone who knows about the illegal sale or use of fireworks to report it to Police Scotland on 101.”
It comes as Police Scotland launched Operation Moonbeam 2026 earlier this month, enabling specially trained officers to tackle firework-related violence and disorder across Halloween and Bonfire Night.
The force said it would be the largest officer deployment since US President Donald Trump visited Aberdeenshire in 2025.
