Suspect arrested after woman raped on West Lothian river bank

A man has been arrested in connection with the alleged rape of a woman on a West Lothian river bank.

Emergency services were called to the River Almond in the Howden area of Livingston at around 1.50am on Monday following reports of a serious sexual assault.

Officer have arrested a 51-year-old man after the incident. An investigation is ongoing to establish the full circumstances.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 1.50am on Monday, September 7, we received a report of a woman being seriously sexually assaulted on the banks of the River Almond in the Howden area of Livingston.

“A 51-year-old man has been arrested, and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
