Police investigating the sudden deaths of two men in a Stirling flat believe there are no suspicious circumstances, although they remain unexplained.

Officers were called to the property on Cowane Street at around 12.10pm on Friday where a 55-year-old and a 62-year-old were found dead.

The deaths are currently being treated as unexplained, however police said there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.

A 30-year-old man was arrested in connection with offences under the Misuse of Drugs Act as part of the investigation, however he has since been released pending further enquiries.

Detective inspector Craig Higgins, of Stirling CID, said: “Our thoughts remain with the families of the two men at this time.

“I am aware that there has been a lot of speculation around these deaths and I’d like to thank the community for their patience and understanding as we carry out our enquiries. I’d like to reassure people that these deaths are not believed to be suspicious and there is no threat to the wider public.

“If you have any information which could assist our enquiries, please contact police on 101, quoting incident 1410 of April 2, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, if you wish to remain anonymous.”
