A section of the M8 has been locked down due to a crash.

Emergency services were alerted to the incident in West Lothian shortly before 6.30pm on Tuesday and remain at the scene.

Traffic Scotland has warned that the stretch of road eastbound between J4 (Whitburn) and J3A (Bathgate) has been closed and is likely to remain shut “for some time”.

Traffic is being diverted off at the Whitburn exit.

There are currently no reports of any injuries.

A force spokesperson said: “Police were called around 6.25pm on Tuesday, October 20 to a report of a road crash on the M8 at Junction 3 eastbound.  

“Officers are at the scene.”
