Street flooded and homes without water due to burst water main in Edinburgh

Streets have been flooded, and homes are without water after a pipe burst in Edinburgh.

Scottish Water discovered a burst 18-inch water main on Duddingston Park South Road on Thursday, which is affecting properties in Danderhall, Castle Green, St Martins, Piershill, Woolmet, Gracemount, Grangepark, St Leonards, Dumbiedykes, Newcraighall, Moredun, The Inch and surrounding areas.

Duddingston Park South Road has been closed due to severe flooding caused by the incident.

Engineers are on site and have begun isolating the burst main to allow repairs to be carried out.

Water supplies continue to be disrupted for some properties, and Scottish Water is working with schools and hospitals in the affected area to provide support where required.

A Scottish Water spokesperson said: “Our teams are working as quickly and safely as possible to repair this burst water main and fully restore normal service to all affected customers.

“We would like to thank customers for their patience and understanding while these essential repairs are carried out and apologise for the inconvenience and disruption caused.”
