A football executive is facing court accused of misappropriating club funds.

Laura Downes, 44, then football administration manager at Stirling Albion FC, is charged with embezzlement.

Downes, of St Ninians, Stirling, is alleged to have embezzled £10,000 from the Scottish League Two club – known as The Binos –  at its ground, Forthbank Stadium in Stirling.

The single charge against her alleges she committed the offence on October 1, 2024 “while an an employee of Stirling Albion Football Club”.

At Stirling Sheriff Court on Friday, Sheriff Euan Gosney continued the summary case against her without plea until June 12.

A spokesperson for Stirling Albion said: “We are not willing to comment at this time as it is a live ongoing case .”
