A staff member was threatened by a man with a weapon in an attempted robbery at a petrol station in Larbert.

An armed man entered the premises in the Main Street area and threatened a staff member at around 8.20pm on Sunday.

Police said nothing was taken and no one was injured in the incident, but staff were left “shaken and upset”.

A hunt has been launched to trace the man involved. He is described as white, around 5’9 “tall, of slim build, and in his late teens or early twenties.

The force said he spoke with a local accent, was wearing a black top and black jogging bottoms, and had most of his face covered.

Police Scotland is urging anyone with information to come forward.

Detective sergeant John Hunter said: “Fortunately, no one was injured, but the staff member was left shaken and upset by what happened.

“Our enquiries to trace the man are ongoing, and we are appealing to anyone who saw anything at the time or knows where the suspect might have gone to get in touch.

“We are asking people to check private CCTV and dash-cam to see if they have captured anything that could assist with our investigation.

“Anyone who can help is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 3228 of Sunday, December 1, 2024, or make a call anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
