Staff threatened at knife point in Gorebridge store robbery as police hunt for suspect

Police are on the hunt for a man who robbed a store in a Midlothian village.

The incident took place at a premises on Main Street in Gorebridge at 8.35pm on Sunday, August 2.

A man entered and threatened staff with a knife before he stole a three-figure sum of money from the till.

Police called it a “frightening incident” for the staff members involved.

The man is described as white, around 5ft 10in tall and of skinny build. He was wearing a black face covering, black clothing, gloves and white trainers.

He left in the direction of Hunter Square.

Detective Constable Shaun Devenney said: “This was a frightening incident for the staff, and it is vital we trace the man responsible.

“I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or someone matching the description above to contact us.

“I would also ask anyone who was in the area and may have dash cam or private CCTV which could assist to get in touch.”
