Sportswear giant Nike is to close its Edinburgh outlet store, with redundancies expected.

The Nike Factory Store, at Craigleith Retail Park, will close permanently on Sunday, January 26.

It is understood that current staff are facing redundancy.

The shop, which sells a discounted range of Nike athletic footwear, apparel and accessories, is closing due to a “retail strategy”, according to the firm.

A Nike spokesperson said: “We constantly evaluate our store locations to give us the best opportunity to personally connect with consumers through premium products, experiences, and services.

“As part of this retail strategy, the Nike Craigleith Store will close per January 26.”

It comes after Nike’s flagship Glasgow store reopened on Buchanan Street street in December after being closed for a six-month refurbishment.
