A man who was cleared of murdering his mother after she disappeared from her home in Edinburgh is set to face a new prosecution.
Sean Flynn was acquitted of killing 43-year-old Louise Tiffney at a trial in 2005.
Now the Crown Office has successfully argued for that verdict to be set aside under double jeopardy legislation – which allows an accused to be tried again for the same offence.
Miss Tiffney’s remains were found near Gosford House in East Lothian in 2017.
