Eleven people have been arrested after protesters blocked the entrances of two Scottish refineries during an environmental demonstration.

The arrests come after climate campaign group This is Rigged claimed to have stopped oil leaving the INEOS plant in Grangemouth and the Nustar Terminal in Clydebank during the demonstrations on Wednesday.

Police confirmed the arrests were carried at the Road Tanker Terminal at the INEOS site in Grangemouth.

It comes three days after five others were arrested at the facility, near Falkirk.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police Scotland have made a number of arrests following protests at the INEOS site in Grangemouth today.

“Eleven people have been arrested at the site and officers remain in attendance.”
