'Serious concerns' for welfare of missing man from Edinburgh without walking stick

Update – George Stewart has been traced and the public have been thanked for their help.

Police have said they have “serious concerns” for the welfare of a missing 83-year-old man from Edinburgh.

George Stewart was last seen in the Caiystance Gardens, the Wester Hailes area, at around 8.25pm on Wednesday.

He is described as being around 5ft 6, with white hair.

When last seen, he was wearing a navy jacket and grey joggers. Whilst he normally uses a walking stick due to mobility issues, he does not have it in his possession.

Inspector Davina Redpath said: “We are appealing for anyone who has seen George, or has any information on his whereabouts to get in touch as soon as possible.

“George lives with dementia and concerns for him are increasing.

“If you believe you can assist out efforts to trace him, please call police on 101, quoting incident 3493 of 28 October.”
