A section of the M8 is set to close overnight throughout next week for essential work.

BEAR Scotland are undertaking the work on the road after a £352,000 Transport Scotland investment dedicated to resurfacing improvements.

The eastbound carriageway of the M8 will be closed between Junction 3A and Junction 3 starting on Tuesday, August 30, for six nights between 8.30pm and 6am, each night.

As a result of the closure, a signed diversion route will be in place for traffic from Junction 3A to M8 Junction 3, via the A779, A89 and A899.

Approximately 1.1 kilometres of the trunk road will be renewed as a result of the works.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s south east network manager, said: “These surfacing improvements will improve safety and ride quality for motorists using this section of the M8.

“Carriageway closures are essential for safety, however we’ve planned the works to take place overnight to minimise disruption and will do all we can to complete the project as quickly as possible.

“We thank motorists in advance for their patience and encourage them to plan ahead by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date travel information.”

  • Sunday September 11 to Friday September 16
