Search for man who ‘fell into water’ at Victoria Quay Basin in Leith enters third day STV News

The search for a man who reportedly fell into water near a government building in Edinburgh has entered a third day. 

Emergency services were alerted around 11.25pm on Friday evening after a man reportedly fell into the Victoria Quay Basin in Leith.

Despite extensive searches of the water which carried on into Saturday, the man has not yet been located.

Police confirmed searches would continue on Sunday and urged any witnesses to come forward. 

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 11.25 pm on Friday, February 3, police were called to a report that a man had fallen into Victoria Quay Basin, to the north of the Scottish Government Building in Leith, Edinburgh.

“Extensive searches have been carried out involving police, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, Scottish Ambulance Service and the Coastguard.

“These efforts will continue today and we encourage anyone with any information to call police on 101, quoting incident 4384 of February 3.”
