Scotland’s “biggest” Bonfire Night event has been cancelled weeks before it was due to take place.

Fawkes Festival at Edinburgh’s Royal Highland Centre will no longer take place on Sunday, November 2, as part of a “planned pause” by organisers.

The festival, which features live music, funfair rides, a fireworks display and a laser show, was described as a “safer alternative” to family-run displays.

The organisers said the decision to pull the plug on next month’s event was to “ensure the festival continues to meet the high standards it’s known for”.

All ticket holders will be refunded before the festival returns next year.

A statement from the organisers read: “Fawkes Festival will be taking a planned pause this year as we look ahead to 2026.

“This allows our team to refresh, evolve and deliver the full-scale experience our audiences deserve.

“We understand this will be disappointing news to those who had bought tickets and were planning to come along, but we appreciate and value your understanding.

“We can’t wait to light up the sky with you again next year.”
