A schoolboy is fighting for his life after being struck by a pick-up truck near a busy shopping centre in West Lothian.

The collision took place around 7.45pm on Monday, February 5 on Almondvale Boulevard near the Centre Livingston and involved a white Toyota Hilux.

The 15-year-old pedestrian was taken to the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People in Edinburgh, with medical staff describing the teen’s condition as “critical”.

The driver was not injured as a result of the collision, as emergency services closed the road for approximately four hours.

Police said enquiries are ongoing and urged those with dash-cam footage to come forward.

Road Policing Sergeant Jamie Humpage said: “Our enquiries into this incident are ongoing.

“I would urge anyone who may have seen the crash to come forward.

“In addition, if you have dash-cam that could help with our investigation then please contact us.”
