Ryanair plane evacuated on airport runway after crashing with fuel truck

The Ryanair plane struck the cab of a fuel truck when preparing to take off at Edinburgh Airport.

Passengers were forced off a plane minutes before departure after it collided with a fuel truck on the runway at Edinburgh Airport.

The Ryanair flight to Faro, Portugal, was preparing for departure on Monday morning when the wing tip struck the cab of the vehicle.

Those on board were forced to disembark the aircraft while a replacement was arranged.

It’s understood that no airport operations were impacted as a result of the incident.

A spokesperson for Ryanair said: “This flight from Edinburgh to Faro (December 22) was preparing for departure when the wing tip came in contact with the cab of a fuel truck.

“Passengers disembarked normally and a replacement aircraft was arranged to operate this flight to Faro.”
