A Ryanair flight bound for Edinburgh was diverted after declaring a mid-air “emergency”.

Flight FR6267 departed from Barcelona at 11.26am on Wednesday and proceeded north to Edinburgh.

However, the aircraft was forced to divert and land in Manchester after an emergency on board.

It was confirmed that the diversion was due to a customer onboard the flight falling ill.

The Ryanair flight landed “without incident” at Manchester Airport at around 1.25pm where the customer was met by medics for further treatment.

Ryanair confirmed the flight continued to Edinburgh following the diversion.

A Ryanair spokesperson said: “This flight from Barcelona to Edinburgh (20 Mar) diverted to Manchester airport after a customer became ill on board.

“The crew called ahead to request medical assistance upon arrival, the aircraft landed, and the customer disembarked and was met by medics for further treatment.

“The flight continued to Edinburgh.

“Ryanair apologies to all customers for this short delay.”
