Residents evacuated from flats in Edinburgh after fire breaks out in early hours

Residents from two blocks of flats in Edinburgh were evacuated early on Sunday morning after a blaze broke out on a residential street.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were called shortly after 4am on March 24 to a fire at Telford Drive.

Four fire engines and a high reach appliance were rushed to the scene to extinguish the blaze.

Local councillor Vicky Ward said that two blocks had been evacuated and thanked the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service for keeping residents safe.

There were no reports of any injuries as a result of the fire and crews left the scene at around 12.30pm.
