A rescue mission was launched following reports of a person in the water from a sinking vessel near Aberlady.
North Berwick and Kinghorn RNLI launched their lifeboat around 8.56am on Sunday after being alerted to the incident off Craigielaw point.
Volunteers were on the scene within half an hour and discovered the boat partially submerged but pushed hard aground by the westerly conditions.
A search was launched for a person in the water with only a marker buoy, which could have been mistaken for a person.
Kinghorn lifeboat carried out a search of the waters from the immediate vicinity, while North Berwick lifeboat searched the shoreline from Aberlady Bay to Cockenzie harbour.
The search was stood down once Aberdeen Coastguard were content that no one was in the water, with the lifeboats leaving the scene at 11am.
