A sex predator who subjected a vulnerable victim to a brutal rape ordeal in an Edinburgh flat has been jailed for six years.

Ahmad Siddique, 21, attacked the teenager after she went to the address following a night out.

A judge told the rapist at the High Court in Edinburgh that it was the victim’s “misfortune” to have met Siddique that night.

Judge Norman McFadyen KC said: “You forced yourself on her and raped her in every way possible.”

He said: “This was a sustained offence committed against a vulnerable victim whose protests you ignored.”

The judge said the attack had resulted in her suffering significant psychological harm.

He ordered that Siddique should also be under supervision in the community for a further three-year period, when he will be on licence and can be returned to jail if he breaches it.

The judge said he was imposing such an extended sentence on Siddique because of the risk he presented.

Siddique had earlier denied committing the crime during a trial, but was convicted of assaulting and raping the victim on November 21 in 2023 during which he made sexual comments and removed her clothing.

Defence counsel Wendy Culross told the court that it was Siddique’s first conviction for a sexual offence.

She said a report prepared on him referred to his ongoing denial of the crime. She said: “While he does maintain that position he does respect the verdict of the jury.”

Mrs Culross said a custodial sentence for Siddique was “inevitable” and added: “He will certainly benefit from offence focused work.”

She said: “This was an offence that developed somewhat spontaneously and impulsively during the night out.”

Siddique, who followed the sentencing proceedings via a TV link to prison, was told he will be on the sex offenders’ register for an indefinite period.

The judge made a non harassment order prohibiting him from contacting or attempting to contact the victim indefinitely.

He told Siddique: “If you breach that order you are liable to imprisonment.”
