A charity is appealing for information after a rabbit was found dumped in a cardboard box in Dalkeith.
The white, female lop-eared rabbit was discovered by a member of the public in a field behind the Newbattle Medical Practice on February 1
An SSPCA inspector who arrived at the scene found the rabbit had been left in a cardboard box and was in “extremely poor” body condition. The field is a popular dog walking location.
The charity believes the rabbit, now named Bluebell, was found soon after being abandoned, as the box was still dry.
She is now being cared for by staff at the Scottish SPCA Edinburgh Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre in Balerno.
The charity is now looking to speak to the owner, and anyone with information is asked to get in touch with the Helpline on 03000 999 999.
