A Qatar Airways flight departing from Edinburgh was forced to divert after a problem with the fridges on board was detected.

Passengers on flight QR030 left Edinburgh for Doha just after 3pm on Thursday, before being diverted to London Heathrow.

The decison was made after a technical issue regarding the on-board fridges was found.

The aircraft subsequently landed in London to move more catering onto the plane before heading onward to Doha. The flight normally lasts around six hours and 55 minutes.

Qatar Airways said in a statement that the safety and security of its passengers and crew are its “highest priority”.

A spokesperson said: “Qatar Airways confirms that flight QR030 from Edinburgh to Doha diverted to London Heathrow on October 9 due to a technical issue relating to the on-board chillers.

“The aircraft made the diversion in order to uplift catering for its onward journey to Doha.

“The safety and security of our passengers and crew are our highest priority.”
