A probe has been launched after a man was found dead on a seaside street in East Lothian.
Emergency services were called to the scene on Mountjoy Terrace in Musselburgh just after 6am on Monday.
Witnesses reported a large number of police officers and a forensic tent at the scene.
Police later confirmed the body of a man had been discovered and an investigation into the death was now ongoing.
The incident is not connected to a search for a person by volunteers at the RNLI Kinghorn Lifeboat Station on the coast of Port Seton on Sunday.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 6.15 am on Monday, July 17, a man was found deceased on Mountjoy Terrace, Musselburgh.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding his death. Officers remain at the scene.”
