Police have issued an update after hundreds of anti-immigration protesters gathered outside a block of flats in Edinburgh.
The demonstration unfolded outside the Cobbinshaw House building in the Calders area of the Capital on Friday, where a man was arrested after two people were injured on Monday.
The force said a man was stabbed and suffered “non-life-threatening injuries” and a woman suffered a laceration to the head which was “not believed to be caused by a bladed weapon”.
The protesters shouted “stop the boats” and other slogans before marching through the streets to St Nicholas Parish Church, a few streets away, where a small group of counter-protesters from Hope Not Hate, Trade Union in Communities and Stand Up To Racism held a demonstration.
STV NewsA large number of Police Scotland officers were deployed to manage the crowds, ensuring the two groups remained separated until they dispersed around 8.20pm.
Police issued an update on Saturday confirming there were no arrests or injuries reported.
Chief Superintendent David Robertson said: “On Friday, 6 March, 2026, officers attended a planned gathering in the Calders area of Edinburgh. There were no reported injuries and no arrests.
“The groups later dispersed.”
Mustafa Kokoneh, 23, appeared in private at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Wednesday, where he faced eight separate charges, including two counts of attempted murder.
